University of Utah

The University of Utah, based in Salt Lake City, is a powerhouse academic, sports, and research institution. The U of U has a total undergraduate enrollment of 24,700 on a campus of 1,535 acres in an urban setting with mountain views as far as the eye can see.

The University is home to the well regarded S.J. Quinney College of Law, College of Engineering, College of Education and the David Eccles School of Business. The U of U School of Medicine is the only medical school in Utah, and is nationally ranked as one of the best programs to attend. US News and World Report lists the University as 107 of top universities in the world (2019.) The university ranks 61 st among U.S. universities by total research expenditures. Alumni, researchers, and professors include: 22 Rhodes Scholars, 4 Nobel Prize winners, 2 Turing Award winners, 8 MacArthur Fellows, various Pulitzer Prize winners, 2 astronauts, Gates Cambridge Scholars and Churchill Scholars. The Honors College has been reviewed among the top 100 leading national Honors Colleges in the U. S.

The U of Uā€™s athletic teams, the Utes, compete in the NCAA Division 1 PAC 12 Conference. Excelling nationally in athletics, the football team won the Sugar Bowl in 2009 and the Ute gymnasts have the record of the most national championships.

The University of Utah has generously committed to matching a Jim Conner Memorial Foundation scholarship. The qualifying student must:

  • Be accepted as a freshman to the University of Utah

  • Be pursuing their first undergraduate degree

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA

  • Have demonstrated a financial need (as determined by FAFSA)
