Scholarship Application

 

The Jim Conner Memorial Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship distributed semiannually over a student’s four years of college education. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the student’s college. Scholarships will expire 5 years after they are awarded. If awarded a scholarship, students are allowed to defer the scholarship for one year or take a one year leave of absence. Partner universities listed on this site have agreed to match the scholarship subject to GPA requirements in some cases.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

You must be a McDowell High School Senior

A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is preferred

Applications must be submitted by March 25th

Applications must be complete which includes the essay and a copy of applicant’s McDowell High School transcript

The essay portion of your application conveys who you are as a person. This is your opportunity to show us your potential, and provide us with an idea of what you’ve been working towards in your high school years.

  • Please tell us about yourself. What are your interests? What activities have you been involved with in high school and the community? Tell us about any accomplishments or special abilities. Is there anything you are passionate about?

  • Please tell us about your family. Are there other siblings in your family? If you have special circumstances please advise.

  • Tell us what colleges and/or universities you have applied to. Have you been accepted to any schools? What is your first choice? Have you been awarded any scholarships? What do you hope to major in? How do you plan on financing your college education?
